Williamsburg Waterfront Concerts

The Williamsburg Waterfront

We’re releasing the dates as we receive them for the Williamsburg Waterfront 2011 Season Schedule (scroll down), follow us on Twitter or sign up for the weekend guide on the right if you want to be notified the minute it comes out.

The concerts have returned to the Williamsburg Waterfront for the 2011 season. Among the lineup this year? Kid CuDi, TV On The Radio, Sonic Youth, They Might Be Giants, Coheed and Cambria, and Death Cab for Cutie. Full concert schedule, map, directions, park information and all that jazz below.

Park Information:

The East River State Park (AKA Williamsburg Waterfront) is a public park located in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn. The park stretches along the East River near North 9th and 10th Streets at Kent Avenue [map], and offers unobstructed views of the Williamsburg Bridge, Midtown Manhattan, and the 14th Street Con-Ed Power Plant (beautiful, really). When utilized as a music venue it has a max capacity of 5,000 people

What happened to the McCarren Park Concerts?

After the McCarren Park Pool was closed in the fall of 2008 all concerts have been relocated to the Williamsburg Waterfront. The last musical event at McCarren Park Pool was Wolf Eyes, Times New Viking and Vivian Girls opening for Sonic Youth on the August 30th 2008.

Avoid Ticketmaster Fees

Best Buy Theatre Times Square sells paper tickets to all of the Williamsburg Waterfront shows, without the service charges, which will net you a savings of roughly $9 to $12 per ticket. They’re open Monday through Saturday from noon to 6pm. Definitely call them at 212-930-1950 before trudging into midtown for tickets.

Will Call Tickets

The box office will be located at North 8th Street and Kent Avenue. Will Call will be available here at least one hour prior to doors on the day of the show, at which point you can pick up your tickets.

What Time Will  [Insert Headlining Band Name]  Go On Stage?

The general rule of thumb is doors at 5:30pm, the openers start around 6ish and they usually run until 7:30pm or so with the headliner going on around 8pm. That says AROUND 8pm. It could be 7:30pm, it could be 8:30pm. If you paid for a ticket you should show up at 7:30pm and hang out if you’re worried about missing part of the headliner’s show.

There is street parking, though you will most likely need to drive around the neighborhood a bit to find a spot.

  • Anonymous

L to Bedford is the easiest for sure. That drops you on Bedford and N. 7th Street, just walk back towards Manhattan on 7th Street until you hit the water (Kent Ave), it'll be a couple blocks North on Kent at North 8th Street.

Ahh, the old whiskey-in-the-cast trick. Free booze and a seat, brilliant. Just kidding. The rule of thumb is no chairs in the venue. You could give it a shot, but don't bring your most expensive lawn chair.
