You Can Drink in the Streets on Bastille Day

Play some petanque

Laissez les bons temps roulez!  It’s that time of year again to get out your Pernod, don the beret, and get ready for some serious petanque, because it’s Bastille Day 2011.

OK, so if you didn’t understand a single thing you just read, don’t worry, it basically said: Let the good times roll. Drink some booze, put on a hat, and play some lawn bowling in the sand ‘cus it’s French Independence Day.

Bastille Day in Carroll Gardens, BK

The largest Bastille day outside of France is right here in our fare borough. So on July 10th, head down to Smith Street between Bergen and Pacific in Carroll Gardens for food, music, and a seriously amazing petanque competition. [Facebook Event]

Local area restaurants such as Bar Tabac and Robin Des Bois will be serving food & drink in the streets, there will three live bands, and at 2:30PM the French Consul General M. Philippe Lalliot and M. Marty Markowitz Borough President will grace us all with their presence. Check out photos from last year’s celebration.
