Your Weekend Guide (July 16th-18th)

Siren Music Festival, Weezer, New York Philharmonic, Caribou, Couch Sessions Birthday, Jelly @ Rock Yard, 3rd Ward BBQ, Sunday Best, and Bastille Day…

Concert: Weezer
Friday, July 17th, 6pm
Williamsburg Waterfront, Williamsburg, Brooklyn 11211

We hope they’re playing jams off the Blue album and sprinkling in the newer stuff, either way it should be a good show. Tickets were $54 before selling out, but Craigslist has some pretty reasonable people selling them for face value-ish. Rival Schools, AWOLNATION opening.

Concert: Caribou & Phantogram
Friday, July 17th, 8pm
Water Taxi Beach, Governors Island

Part of the Converse Presents “Gone To Governors” Live Music Series. This is a first-come, first-serve, when-they-hit-capacity-and-you’re-late-you’re-screwed kind of concert. Doors at 6pm. FREE.

The DC Music Hub Couch Sessions turns 5 in Brooklyn. 195 Morgan Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11211

3rd Ward and Goods are teaming up to roast a two hundred pound pig, bluegrass and honky-tonk style bands, free Fire Island Beer until the kegs run out, so if you’re anywhere near Bushwick you should check this out, period. It’s also just down the block from the Sunday Best party, so if you’re at one, check out the other.

Bastille Day
Sunday, July 18th, 11am-10pm

Head down to Boerum Hill and join the French in celebrating their independence from feudalism. The ground will be covered in a few tons of sand for the international Petanque competition, a skateboard competition, and $5 pastis and lillet cocktails supplied by Bar Tabac and neighboring restaurants.

Join residents Justin Carter, Eamon Harkin & Doug Singer and special guest Todd Edwards this Sunday outdoors at Brooklyn Fire Proof’s Courtyard. Fresh Food, Cold Drinks and Good Music. It’s also just down the block from Third Ward’s BBQ, so if you’re at one, check out the other.

Still not satisfied? Here’s some recurring events: Brooklyn Flea, Andy Warhol at the Brooklyn Museum, a tour of Brooklyn Brewery, or a guided tour of lesser known parts of Brooklyn from Urban Oyster.
