If high school prom were anything like the Epic Prom, we would have repeated the 12th grade (on purpose). The evening event truly lived up to its name giving many of us an opportunity to now say with honesty that prom was a memorable experience for all of the right reasons.
The event was complete with a four-course cafeteria-inspired meal prepared by Theo Peck and Nick Suarez of The Food Experiments, 50s themed bar staffed by mixologists Vito Dieterle (of Little Branch) and Alejandro Merola, golden oldies spun by DJ Count Zero (Matt Mikas) and performances by the Harlem James Gang. To truly bring the prom theme to life, the event was appropriately held in a Catholic school gymnasium with prom king and queen crowned on the gym stage by fashion stylist Alexandra Greenawalt.
The meal portion of the evening was a real standout with a pate starter followed by salad, fried corn beef nuggets, mac and cheese, pulled pork sandwiches and Guinness infused milk with snickerdoodle cookies - all served on cardboard cafeteria trays. The evenings libations consisted of classy gin and whiskey cocktails with names like The Battle for New Orleans. These master-crafted beverages helped lubricate the evening and move the masses out onto the dance-floor for 50s and 60s style jams (think Grease).
The party was put together by Adam Aleksander of Adam Aleksander Presents and Brain Quinn of Noble Rot. Adam was thrilled with the event saying, "The food was delicious - variations on comfort food; the cocktails were delish, with all fresh juice and skilled bartenders to make them. Looking around with the discoball creating ambiance, it really felt magical - especially seeing all the guests making out. That's probably the best sign of a good party, seeing guests kissing."
