Williamsburg Hostel Shut Down

An overpopulated, illegal hostel in Williamsburg that served as a flop house for hipsters, students, and travelers was shuttered on March 26th by city inspectors, leaving many on the street. Assemblyman Joe Lentol said "owners of the Loftsel at 112 N. 6th St. have been squeezing as many as 16 people into each of the building's 12 apartments." City officials noted the building is zoned for commercial use and lacks fire escapes and sprinkler systems. The Loftsel Facebook fan page has also been shut down at this time.
